Advances in Combinatorics is a mathematical journal that publishes high quality articles about combinatorial structures such as graphs, hypergraphs, set systems, matroids, geometrical configurations, and sets of integers, including their algorithmic aspects.

We aim to be a top-level specialist journal in combinatorics. We do not have a set number of issues per year, so it is our policy to accept articles if and only if we judge them to have reached the standard we are looking for. As a rough guide, an article in Advances in Combinatorics should be what the title of the journal suggests: a genuine advance on a question of clear interest to combinatorialists.

The journal’s ISSN is 2517-5599. For further information, including instructions for how to submit a paper, please see the “For Authors” page.

Referencing published articles

Every article published in Advances in Combinatorics is assigned a unique number within the publication year, which is displayed at the top of the first page of the pdf file available on arXiv. The article can be referenced using the publication year and this number. Each article is also assigned a unique and persistent digital object identifier (DOI). While the exact formatting of the reference may differ depending on the journal style, the first five articles that we have published can be referenced, for example, as follows.

  • M. Bonamy, F. Kardoš, T. Kelly, P. Nelson and L. Postle: The structure of binary matroids with no induced claw or Fano plane restriction, Advances in Combinatorics, 2019:1, 17pp. https://doi.org/10.19086/aic.10256

It is also possible to cite an article without providing DOI, for example, in the following way.

  • M. Bonamy, F. Kardoš, T. Kelly, P. Nelson and L. Postle: The structure of binary matroids with no induced claw or Fano plane restriction, Advances in Combinatorics, 2019:1, 17pp.
